The proposal!!!

The thing i like the most about Andy's proposal to me was that it was so us. It wasn't rehearsed or planned. He proposed when it felt right, not when anyone else expected him to. It felt right for it to happen the way it did, on Christmas, with just the two of us talking to each other, nothing too planned out, with my family in the next room.

We were talking in the living room and he told me how much he loved me. Then he said something proposal-ish (i can't remember exactly what it was) and then stopped, which made me say "you're not going to propose now are you?" He smiled and tried to throw me off track. Then a few minutes later he said something else proposal-ish and then stopped again. I said something along the lines of, "Seriously! Are you proposing? Because you shouldn't be teasing me with this!" He smiled and then said, "Do you want me to?"

And then my wonderful boyfriend said some wonderful words to me. While i don't remember exactly what it was, the basic idea was "weddings and rings asside, i love you, i want to take care of you, i want to have children with you, i want to make you feel like this (happy, loved, desireable) all the time." He had me close my eyes and continued to talk to me while he reached into his pocket and pulled out the ringbox! (And he used the ringbox i had gotten a while back that was shaped like a ladybug! Yay!)

I seriously did not believe that he was proposing until he pulled out the ringbox. That's when i knew he was serious! (Of course, it was dark in the living room so i was pretty much assuming the ring was in the box since i couldn't actually see it. I knew he wouldn't tease me that much...) I knew he was serious because he had planned it out and used the ladybug ringbox and made it as perfect as possible.

Afterwards, i said i was sorry if i had messed things up and he said that "that's what he loves about us. That we can mess things up and they'll still work out all right." That's why i want to spend the rest of my life with this man, because he makes everything beautiful. Because he's able to put things into perspective for me. Because he makes me see that my expectations and opinions and plans are not always the best for me or us. Because he shows me that he will take care of me and love me and cherish me no matter what. He makes me feel so safe when i'm with him. I feel protected and loved and couldn't ask for a better man to marry.

I hope you realize that I now want to be informed of every decision made and every change of mind and all the little details all the way along the way.

I love the two of you very much and I'm so excited for you. I'm totally buying a wedding magazine tonight, because now I finally have an excuse to do so.
